Term 3, Week 7, 2023 School Newsletter
News from the Principal
Dear Families,
Another busy fortnight has gone by here at St Patrick's.
On Monday 14th August our amazing, hard working Foundation class celebrated their biggest journey of learning so far, by reaching the milestone of 100 days of learning. It was so much fun seeing the children dressed up as 'oldies'.... they had a well deserved celebration. Well done to Mrs J and Miss Chloe for all thier planning and preparation.
On Tuesday 15th August, our Year 5 students were invited to Damascus College. They had a fantastic experience and a glimpse into what a day in the life of a high school student is like. The SEED days are wonderful for students and we look forward to next year for our current Year 4 students to experience similar opportunities.
Book Week celebrations were a lot of fun for our whole community. It was a pleasure to see the children so engaged with their favourite characters from their favourite books. A great reminder in the pleasure we can get from reading and especially reading with our children.
I thank the children and parents/caregivers for all their hard work that went into making Book Week so fun for everyone.
Next week, Monday, 28th August at 9.15am we have our immersive activity for the book Circle, written by Jeannie Baker. We will be walking into town as a whole school, to the wetlands off Lyndhurst Street in Gordon.
Children are able to bring binoculars with them and a small snack if required. All parents are welcome to join in, please just let your child's teacher know via Dojo.
Planning is underway for 2024 with regards to class structures and I encourage parents to contact me if they have any questions regarding their own child(ren) and their learning in 2024. At our core is that each child is learning to their full potential and recieves indivdual learning at their point of need.
Next week is gearing up to be another busy one, ending next week with our Father's Day breakfast and assembly. Enjoy the weekend and see you all Monday.

100 Days of Learning Celebration
SEED Secondary Education Experience Day Year 5 Students
On Tuesday, 15th August, our year 5 students, Macy, Rose, Elle and Lily were invitied to Damascus College to experience what a day is like on a secondary campus.
Macy said, 'During art we got to use our imagination and let our imagination go wild. It was a bit different, I enjoyed myself'.
Rose was pleased as, 'we had a go at sports and I got to know new people in our group from different schools. I enjoyed myself!'.
Elle wasn't surprised and it was how she was expecting it to be.
Lily thought 'the Damascus kids were nice' and she learnt that the teachers were walking around the school during break time, she didn't know they did that at high school too.
Book Week 2023
Book Week celebrations were in full swing this week! The children were invited to come to school dressed as their favourite book character. A big thankyou to our children and their families for such an amazing effort in dressing up, this is such a great way to celebrate our love of reading together with our children.

Pastoral Care
Pastoral care is key to our strong sense of community across the School. There are many threads to the programme – both formal and informal – and all have the intention of addressing the well-being of each student at their individual point of need.
Vivian Lunt is the Pastoral Care Worker at our school. She is a qualified and a very professional and caring Pastoral Care Worker employed at our school every Thursday.
Vivian works with individual children on request, small groups and parents and families as required. All interactions remain strictly confidential.
If any family would like to access this service, either for themselves personally or their child, please contact the school office to arrange an appointment with Vivian.
