Week 1, Term 3, 2021 Newsletter
News from the Principal
Dear Families,
Welcome back to Term 3. I trust everyone enjoyed their holidays together, with family and friends. I personally had a wonderful time heading to North East Victoria with my wife for a week of relaxation. I was back to work in the second week supervising painters, electricians, tree loppers and roof sealers, in readiness for a great start to the term.
We congratulate our following students, Jobe Blazko, Jez Barnes, Beatrix Flint, Eva Pamic, Georgie Conroy, Charli Busuttil, who together with other children in the Parish, were to be receiving the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist this weekend. Due to current and recent restrictions, this may change. The participants will receive further advice, when we have it.
We have many highlights to look forward to this term. On Thursday 22nd July we will be having a Cross Country Carnival at our school for all students. We invite families to join with us at 9:15 am, where you will be able to watch and cheer on children, as well as enjoy a complimentary coffee of your choice from the attending coffee van.
Our bi-annual Art Show will be held on Thursday 16th September from 5 pm - 7 pm. Children will very busy creating some wonderful art pieces to show their families. We are very fortunate to have such a talented Art Teacher, Trish Lannen, who is co-ordinating our Art Show this year.
Our School Choir commenced practice yesterday and all children participated. Tim & Myrawin Nelson and Libby McKew are co-ordinating the choir and you will all get to hear some amazing singing at our upcoming Art Show.

COVID LOCKDOWN UPDATE
Dear Families,
Unfortunately and as you are all probably aware, the recently announced State wide lockdown means that students will return to remote learning tomorrow (Friday), and also on Monday and Tuesday of next week.
All children were sent home with resources and online classes will resume tomorrow from 9 am.
- Students in F/1 Class will access Miss Libby via class Dojo, as per last term. All students will now have nice new iPads to use.
- Students in Years 2/3 will access Miss Smith through the link on the top of their google classroom.
- Students in Years 4-6 will access Mr. Lamb via the link on the top of their google classroom.
All teachers will remain available to students until 11:00 am and they will conduct a morning check-in, spelling test and set students up for their learning and also be available to offer assistance.
We will update you later tomorrow (Friday), around what learning will look like for Monday and Tuesday, but we will commence with a 9:00 am online check in each day, for each learning group.
For those families who are essential workers and require onsite supervision, please email me on principal@spgordon.catholic.edu.au or call me on 0433 045 458 to arrange supervision. I will be at schoool tomorrow, should you require assistance in any way.
As a school we appreciate the stresses that these lockdowns place on families, so please let us assist you as best we can.
I sincerely thank all families, students and staff for their understanding. Please stay safe and well.
Kind regards,
Paul.

St. Patrick's Tea Towel Fundraiser
Through the wonderful work of Sam Peoples from our Parents and Friends we have a fantastic art project to commemorate our 2021 school year as you can see in the attached image. We are gauging expressions of interest prior to ordering of how many each family would be likely to purchase, so we can order and then we will ask for payment. Each tea towel will sell for $10.00 and are a great family keepsake. I have one still from 20 years ago (I had more hair in the last picture).
If you could complete the attached expression of interest, we will move forward with ordering for a delivery date later this term.

Pastoral Care
Pastoral care is key to our strong sense of community across the School. There are many threads to the programme – both formal and informal – and all have the intention of addressing the well-being of each student at their individual point of need.
Vivian Lunt is the Pastoral Care Worker at our school. She is a qualified and a very professional and caring Pastoral Care Worker employed at our school every Thursday.
Vivian works with individual children on request, class groups and parents and families as required. All interactions remain strictly confidential.
If any family would like to access this service, either for themselves personally or their child, please contact the school office for an appointment with Vivian.
